10 Things To Do For the New Year
It’s hard to believe 2023 is coming to an end. Are you ready to ring in the New Year? Here are 10 things you should do before the end of the year to make 2024 the best year yet.
1.Write a gratitude list
Reflecting on the year behind us can bring so many memories to light. Take a moment to reflect on the things that you were grateful for this year and record them, whether that’s writing a simple list or turning it into a fun scrapbooking project.
2. Declutter one area of your home
Everyone has a junk drawer, a pile of papers on their desk, or a looming task that they’ve been putting off for some time. Take some time before the end of the year to organize your space. You will be amazed how much better you’ll feel afterward. You know what they say, tidy house, tidy mind!
3. Write a list of things you’ve achieved in the past year
Celebrate the big and small wins from the past year by writing down a list of what you’ve achieved. It can be anything from buying a home to finishing a book you’ve been dying to read.
4. Start thinking about your goals for 2024
Now that you know what you’re grateful for in the past year and all that you’ve achieved, start thinking about what you want to accomplish in the next year. You can write down these goals to make them more concrete or simply keep them in mind as you head into the new year.
5. Get your finances in order
Start the new year off right by being aware of your finances. Take this time to answer questions like how much am I making each month? How much am I spending each month? How much debt do I have? Do I have sufficient insurance? Reflect on any changes you can make to your spending or ways that you can adjust your bills to make 2024 easier on your pocketbook. If you have extra time, try out a financial wellness course to learn something new!
6. Choose a ‘word of the year’
If there was one word you want to associate yourself with in 2024, what would it be? Use this word to keep you focused and motivated throughout the year!
7. Set up your personal planner
It’s time to pick your planner for the year! Whether that’s heading to the store for a paper copy or searching the web for the best digital planner available, now is the time to find what works best for you.
8. Identify any repairs that need to be made
Do a walkthrough of your home and make note of anything that needs to be fixed or replaced. You don’t have to repair everything right away, but knowing what is coming will help you be prepared physically and financially in the new year.
9. Schedule time for self-care
The best way to ring in the new year is in a good state of mind. Find time to schedule a day or even an hour of self-care time. Think about what self-care means to you, is it a visit to your favorite park? An hour or two of reading your favorite book? Visiting your favorite yoga studio? Choose what sounds best to you and include it in your schedule.
10. Plan something to look forward to in the New Year.
Keep your excited energy going after the holidays by scheduling something you can look forward to in 2024. It could be a relaxing weekend away, visiting a friend from your childhood, or trying your first pottery class. Do what makes you happy!
