KCUCares Foundation: Making a Difference One Day at a Time
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone that made a donation in our first-ever Member Donation Campaign. We are excited to announce that your donations helped us raise $12,338! That surpassed all of our expectations. From everybody here at Kitsap Credit Union and the Foundation, thank you for believing in the vision of what we are doing: to support our community and create transformational change.
Your membership and donations are making very real and tangible change here in our community. Here is how your support has made an impact in the community recently:
Habitat for Humanity Build Recap
In June, the KCUCares Foundation volunteered at the Tacoma Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Build Day. Fifteen of our team members spent their day volunteering in Tacoma on the Proctor Triplex. Proctor Triplex is a legacy build dedicated to Habitat TPC’s first Construction Manager, Frank Lewis, who passed in 2023. He brought communities together, and this building was sponsored by his community to remember him. He brought together churches to build homes and with his wife created a program for women to get into construction. Project Triplex is dedicated to community and believing in the power of people, and with your support, we were able to help build permanent safe and affordable housing for families in Tacoma.
End of School Year Update
We also celebrated the end of the 2023 school year through the Foundation with our financial education in five high schools. This school year, 2,352 students accessed our Achieve Financial Education Curriculum, working on 18,188 modules around all things money, which amounted to 9,093 hours of engagement. These students received Industry-Recognized Certificates which they can add to their resume and college applications. And did we mention they get snacks and prizes?
And to all of our graduating seniors and their families, congratulations!
Bremerton Backpack Brigade
Bremerton Backpack Brigade was the recipient of a recent social media giveaway donation and while our Outreach Coordinator, David Inglish, was presenting Hunger Partner and Bremerton Backpack Brigade Pantry Director Sherrill Gross with the $250 check, Sherill said, “Every little bit helps. This money can feed 17 families!”
Last year, Bremerton Backpack Brigade managed to support 600 families with over 89,000 lbs of food and expects to do more this year.
By being a member, you help Kitsap Credit Union’s Foundation fund programs like Bremerton Backpack Brigade that ensure all kids and their families have access to nourishing meals. Last year, Kitsap Credit Union and it’s Foundation awarded 26 hunger-serving organizations in our community with $6,000 checks. We look forward to continuing life changing work like this, thanks to your support.
Thank you for your continued support of the Foundation. Together, we can support our community and change lives.
